Can't sleep? Does it mean you have insomnia? Let's find out what insomnia really is. According to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, insomnia is a common sleep disorder where a person has trouble falling asleep or staying asleep. As a result a person may experience sleepiness, low energy, feel anxious and not feel productive during the day. Chronic insomnia means you have had this problem for a month or more. Sometimes insomnia can be caused by a medical condition or medications this is called secondary insomnia. Primary insomnia is most likely caused by worry, poor sleeping habits, and a variety of other non-medical conditions. Insomnia can have many causes.
